Transformed a Clinical Health Platform into a Consumer-Facing App and Smartwatch experience
Product Goal
Masimo has delivered healthcare and patient-monitoring solutions for over 30 years. As the company expanded into the consumer market, it integrated its monitoring technology into the Freedom smartwatch and Masimo Health app.
I led the redesign of core app and smartwatch experiences, turning a complex health-monitoring platform into a more intuitive, consumer-friendly product. The work balanced usability, technical feasibility, and cross-platform consistency across mobile and wearable touchpoints.

Partnership
Masimo partnered with Pininfarina in 2021 on branding and concepts for the Masimo Health app and Freedom watch.
In 2023, the company brought the work in-house, our team redesigned the products and took it to production while overcoming several key challenges.
In 2024, Masimo partnered with Google Wear OS to bring its bio-sensing technology to standardized smartwatches, collaborating with the Wear OS design team to integrate Wear OS behaviors into the Freedom watch experience.

My Role
On a team of 3 designers, I led the end-to-end redesign and execution of core mobile and smartwatch experiences across 12 features, including 7 mobile features and 5 watch features. I drove the work from concept refinement through production-ready design while balancing user needs, technical feasibility, hardware-and platform-specific considerations.
