Hi! My name is Joyce Chiu 👋😊and I am an interaction designer focusing on user experience who graduated from ArtCenter College of Design. I am from Vancouver, Canada, 🇨🇦and have gotten a lot of inspiration from many afternoons exploring English Bay.
When I was young, I lived in places all over the world. I was born in Taichung, Taiwan 🇹🇼and moved to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam 🇻🇳when I was 10 years old. After living there for 5 years, I immigrated to Vancouver, Canada, then moved again to Los Angeles, USA. 🇺🇸When living with different cultures and learning new languages, I relied on art and drawing to tear down communication barriers. ✍️This led me to study Communication Design at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design, where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Design. At Emily Carr, I realized that design could be about more than just conveying messages through visuals. Design can be about solving people’s problems and improving their lives. This is what I want to do as a designer. In 2016, I began my journey towards becoming an interaction designer at ArtCenter College of Design.👩🏻🎨
As an interaction designer, I want to design digital products and experiences that can offer solutions to people’s problems. I want to become a designer that influences people’s lives and brings about a brighter future. For me, having a background in communication design allows me to better convey my design solutions through storytelling and visuals. I am always excited about my next adventure, as each new experience will give me opportunities to create and grow as a designer.🙋🏻♀️
